Over 2,000 cyclists take to the streets in a monthly "organized coincidence" called Critical Mass. Spreading to over 400 cities around the world, Critical Mass began in September 1992 in San Francisco with 45 riders, and has happened every month since, averaging about 1,500 riders and topping 5,000 riders on several occasions.
