View of San Francisco, 1990s, from Angel Island. Trees in foreground are mostly Australian Blue-Gum Eucalyptus, and are undergoing removal by the Park Service in order to make way for the replanting of native species. Angel Island ("Wood Island") Dana describes an island covered with trees, and of course in those days, the view of SF would have shown a windswept, sandy land covered with hills and valleys.

'

Photograph of San Francisco as seen through the trees of Angel Island. These trees are the ubiquitous non-native Australian Blue Gum Eucalyptus, which the Park Service is removing to prepare for native plant restoration.
