Spring 2001: 3rd and Bryant Streets, construction on corner, and also at South Park just north. From 1999 to 2001, an unprecedented boom in loft building swept through the South of Market neighborhood, encouraged by brazenly pro-development policies of Mayor Willie Brown and his rubber-stamping appointees to the Planning Commission.
